The ISMEA Copernicus Open School for the National Rural Network is underway

Registration is open for the first Open School of the "Ismea Copernicus Academy for the National Rural Network" project, a training and information course on the European Earth Observation Program "Copernicus" and its services, methods and innovative products to support the world of consultancy for ainnovative and sustainable agricultural enterprise.

There Before Open School Copernicus Academy, entitled "Earth Observation applied to the management of the carbon cycle and of the irrigation resource within an agricultural district", It will take place in Campania in webinar mode and it will last four days: 20, 24, 25, 27 May 2022.

The school is organized by Ismea and involves Managing Authority (MA) of the Rural Development Programme of the region, National Coordination of the Copernicus Academy, States General of Innovation, Federico II University of Naples and ARPA Campania, with the participation of ISPRA and CREA.

As ISMEA explains, the Open school wants to "activate, at regional level, a virtuous path of circulation and exchange of information, expression of needs and supply of skills with respect to the issues of earth observation, geoinformation and ICT". The focus is land observation applied to the management of the carbon cycle and the irrigation resource within an agricultural district. "The specific objective of the initiative is the awareness, training, promotion and launch of the integrated use in agriculture of new agronomic and environmental knowledge and innovative technologies and tools of Earth Observation and Geo-information".

Perfect example of European strategic cooperation in space research and industrial development, Copernicus is the Earth observation program of the European Union, coordinated by the European Commission through the European Union Agency for the Space Program (EUSPA), in collaboration with the European Space Agency (ESA). The purpose is to monitor the Earth and its ecosystems, mitigatesndo the effects of climate change, while ensuring citizens are prepared and protected in the event of natural or man-made crises and disasters. It offers information and data services based on satellite Earth observation and in situ measurements (air and land).

The program National Rural Network (NRN) has the objective of improving the quality of the implementation of Rural Development programmes, involving sector operators and stakeholders, informing potential beneficiaries and civil society about the results and opportunities of rural development policy in Italy and promote innovation.
