We live in an era where the space-time relationship has changed. From Fulvio Ananasso, Sergio Farruggia And Monica Sebillo.

The geo-spatial technologies (Geo-ICT) sector is undergoing an epochal transformation. Today it is no longer limited to the geomatic domain alone, but involves many other ICT fields (Information & Communication Technologies) using georeferenced data and geo-spatial maps, with a constant explosive increase in new products and services, as well as the ability to improve or re-engineer business processes. The resulting value and utility to the economy and society through the geo-spatial industry is estimated to be over $500 billion worldwide, and the benefits of digital geography and spatial dimension are increasingly appreciated by citizens globally , in one form or another. It is therefore increasingly important to deploy dissemination initiatives focused on the development of geo-digital skills, also taking into account OpenGovernment (transparency, participation, collaboration) and the related effects of the geo-spatial revolution.

On this basis, the partners Fulvio Ananasso, Sergio Farruggia and Monica Sebillo have set up an interesting dissemination project for the prestigious magazine TechEconomy, trying to deepen and illustrate the main themes of the Geo-ICT "revolution", keeping in mind the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and highlighting (if and) how the topics covered contribute – or could contribute – to the achievement of the 2030 objectives.

The aim is therefore to propose topics - still little debated, at least in Italy - related to the "Geo-digital Revolution", trying to investigate to what extent the digital transformation of cartography and the pervasive diffusion of geospatial technologies in many other ICT sectors - driven by the disruptive development of the Net beyond the domain of geomatics – have already improved the context of our life and are destined to affect it even more in the future, in a way that is all to be discovered and understood. Technical-specialist interventions are scheduled for the next few months, alternating from post on "vertical" applicative topics, oriented towards "cross-sectoral" declinations for more or less market applications consumer — integrated logistics, e-health / telemedicine, cultural heritage, food and wine, precision agriculture, etc. The editorial plan currently provides for one contribution per month, published on the 15th of each month.
