“Digital Republic”: SGI adheres to the project of the Ministry of Innovation

Stati Generali dell'Innovazione adheres to the project Digital Republic, national strategic initiative promoted by the Department for Digital Transformation of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers to "combat the cultural digital divide present in the Italian population, to support maximum digital inclusion and encourage education on future technologies, accompanying the process digital transformation of the country".

The digital divide and lack of digital skills have become a real emergency, an obstacle to economic and social development, a brake on professional growth and the employability of citizens, which place Italy at the bottom of the European rankings for attractiveness. "The objective of the Digital Republic is to "create an "alliance" of public and private entities, which has as its point of reference the Manifesto of the Digital Republic and that it operates as a community of co-design, sharing and collaboration”.

There are many associations, local authorities, administrations, businesses, universities, schools that have joined with their projects, networking experiences and skills: Stati Generali dell'Innovazione has done so with STE(A)MonEDU, a project funded by the programme Erasmus+ of European Union.

In order to adhere to the Manifesto, the proposed initiatives must relate to three areas: basic digital literacy and overcoming the cultural digital divide; development of digital skills for work; education in emerging technologies and the dissemination of digital culture.

What is STE(A)MonEDU?

STE(A)MonEdu aims to propose policies at every governmental level – local, regional, national or European – to implement the STEAM approach (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics) in schools, both in formal and informal education, making available to institutions a complete reference platform for defining the required professional profiles and teaching programming. All activities will be carried out free of charge for the participating teachers.
