OpenGeoData School 2017

The OpenGeoData School

was born to activate a open innovation process within the territories, through participatory planning with strategies relating to intelligent communities, territorial marketing, participatory urban planning, experiential tourism.

The OpenGeoData School proposes a training aimed at:

  • develop professionalism in the creative management of geographic Open Data, available on public and non-public platforms;
  • spread the culture of geolocated data;
  • stimulate their reuse and to convince Public Administrations to implement their open diffusion.

In this way we aim to enhance the area by enhancing the cultural and tourism promotion strategies, with particular attention to the intersection with social innovation and “community tourism” experiences.

The target

of the OpenGeoData School is to create the basis for the development of "experiential tourism" initiatives in the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato area, capable of highlighting the welcoming capacity of the area, enhancing the self-narratives of the communities, starting from material cultures - with particular attention to the food and wine supply chains - creating geo-referenced thematic itineraries through experiential maps to be used via mobile (app and web app).

The trained professionals will be able to accompany the change and promote an "organic and shared vision" of the future of the territory between Langhe, Roero and Monferrato, with a participatory planning capable of activating the new "network of value” expressed by active citizenship.

At the end of the experience,

participants in the OpenGeoData School will be able to independently continue the further development of the experiential maps produced and to plan initiatives to create new ones, thus enriching the "virtual space" dedicated to the Langhe, Roero and Monferrato.

tabletThey will be able to integrate into the online community created last year, a permanent laboratory For the growth of specific skills, both in public sphere and among the operators linked to the tourism and to the single productive realities, for improve their ability to tell themselves and to communicate the area.

The OpenGeoData School is aimed at:

  • local promoters who care about the progress of the lands of Langhe, Roero and Monferrato: tour, hospitality and catering operators; operators of public institutions, associations and trade organizations;
  • teachers, communicators and journalists that with their work they want to bring the culture of territorial innovation to these places;
  • students and recent graduates in technical and humanistic subjects who want to develop their professional activity, in harmony with the development of the intelligent community within which they operate.
