An island on the net: conversations and navigations on the digital future in the Mediterranean

An event sponsored by Municipality of Castelsardo And Philosophical, Literary and Human Sciences Research Center of Sassari in collaboration with inschibboleth.org And urban experience.

With the contribution of Presidency of the Region of Sardinia and the patronage of Department of Theories and Research of Cultural Systems of the University of Sassari.

An Island on the Net, from 26 to 28 August 2011, will not propose yet another summer festival but a laboratory of multimedia ideas and experiences hinged on a series of Talk Shows to reflect on the digital future.

Among the topics covered in the busy program we highlight:

  • Tourism in the time of web 2.0;
  • the future polis: the new forms of participation in public affairs;
  • knowledge in the making in the sharing of knowledge;
  • information beyond journalism and the new opportunities of social media;
  • glocal: local knowledge in the global era of social networks;
  • infinite relationships in networks.

Carlo Massarini will lead the talk shows (conceived as a video streaming set) which will see the participation of dozens of philosophers, journalists, sociologists, entrepreneurs, politicians and communication experts.

Some events will feature the use of radio headphones for itinerant conversations defined as "walk shows", while others will have a theatrical imprint such as the fleeting appearances of characters (such as Julian Assange of WikiLeaks and Elenora d'Arborea) played by actors or radio-guided theatrical tastings, such as Koinè's "Pecorino Erxperience" (booking recommended).

During those days a will be active Performing Media Lab conducted by Carlo Infante and the Urban Experience multitaskforce for a creative training activity on territorial innovation and the setting up of an interactive environment, the Experience Lounge, where it will be possible to experiment with interaction design solutions and be facilitated in use web platforms that will relaunch UnIsolaInRete in the global social media system.
