“48h to conceive, develop and create solutions, applications. Hands-on!”
The earthquake that struck theEmilia it is yet another confirmation that the unpredictability of disasters clashes today with the will to rebuild not of the individual but of the community. In fact, there are many volunteers, aid and the participation shown by all citizens.
Even Wikitalia's idea of "civic protection", http://www.wikitalia.it/2012/06/protezione-civica-ripartire-tutti-insieme/ it is an example of this.
Earthquake Hackathon aims to give a place and a time to developers, designers, and more generally to anyone who wants to lend a hand with the ultimate goal of create tangible solutions, application, to support the real and contingent needs of the people of Mirandola, Finale, and Emilia-Romagna in general, a land that continues to shake. With a simple app we could support the detection of damage to buildings and their usability, the sorting of aid for civil protection, the reporting of material in storage for companies affected by the earthquake... and with a view to total (and necessary?) transparency , we could think of an app for real-time monitoring of the progress of the works and the documentation of the money spent.
Will it really be useful? It just depends on us, how many we will be and how good we will be. Take part on 16 and 17 June in Bologna: http://www.facebook.com/events/370347889692248/
